September 28, 1969 – August 28, 2026
Angela “Angie” (Sims) Quandt was born in Portland, Oregon, and graduated from Tigard High School in 1987, where she received the “Friendliest Person Award”—a fitting recognition for someone who made people feel welcome wherever she went. In 1993, she married the love of her life, Marty, and together they built a family centered on love, laughter and togetherness.
In September 2022, Angie was diagnosed with ALS. For nearly four years, she faced the disease with extraordinary courage, humor and optimism. ALS changed what she was able to do, but it never changed who she was. She continued to smile, laugh, offer advice and, above all, be there for the people she loved. Her strength throughout her illness inspired everyone around her.
Angie’s greatest joy was being a mom to her six children: Chris, Adam, Nick, Megan, Emily and Ella Grace. She was the mom who showed up—for baseball, basketball and tennis games, dance competitions, family traditions and all the ordinary moments that mattered. She encouraged her children at every stage of their lives and remained one of their biggest supporters, even as ALS progressed.
Her family grew to include five grandchildren—Theo, Benjamin, Dahlia, Daphne and Charlotte—who brought her immense joy. Angie treasured time with her children and grandchildren and loved the simple rituals of family life, including weekly reality-show nights with her kids. She adored her dogs, Henry, Ollie and Teddy, and found happiness in the everyday moments spent with those she loved.
Angie also had a gift for making people feel at home. Her door was always open, and her children’s friends and many others became part of the family. She believed there was always room for one more.
Angie is survived by her husband, Marty; her six children, Chris (Frances), Adam (Christian), Nick (Shelby), Megan (Corey), Emily and Ella Grace; her five grandchildren, Theo, Benjamin, Dahlia, Daphne and Charlotte; her sisters, Darla Garcia and Heather Nolan; and her father, Ron Sims. She was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Clark. She also leaves behind countless friends and extended family members whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
Angie will be remembered for the way she lived—with warmth, humor, courage and an unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives in the children she raised, the grandchildren she adored, the friends she welcomed and the countless memories created around the holiday table, at family celebrations, at Disneyland and in the everyday moments she made special.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Northwest, 825 NE Multnomah St., Suite 940, Portland, OR 97232, 503-238-5559.
A celebration of Angie’s life will be held Monday, September 28, at 3 p.m. at The Barn at Countryside in Aurora, Oregon.
Oh Marty, I’m so sorry to hear of Angie’s passing. I know she was the love of your life. You and your family will be in my prayers. She will never be forgotten. Hugs
