Dorothy Lorraine Fortner died holding hands with her family on December 26th after a long life of caring for her family and friends.
Dorothy was born in Oak Park, Illinois. For most of her life, she was a resident of Palos Heights, Illinois. Her career included being a loan officer at Olympic Savings and Loan, and later a 20-year volunteer at Palos Community Hospital. Dorothy moved to Portland, Oregon in 2007, and was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church and its Women’s Club.
Dorothy is the mother of Gregg (Stephanie) Fortner, Grandmother of Jenna, and Aunt of Eric Baloun and Kendall (Edward) Schafer. Dorothy is now rejoining her family including her husband Harold, her parents Emil and Mildred Baloun, her daughter Mary, and her brother Leonard (Bernadette) Baloun.
Catholic Mass celebrating Dorothy’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 2014, at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 1280 N.W. Saltzman Road, Portland, Oregon 97229.
