In Loving Memory Sandra Hutchinson

Sandra Dale Hutchinson
Date Of Birth: 09/19/1937
Date of Death: 08/13/2026

Sandra was the glue for our family, gathering and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a mother, wife, grandmother, and Christian. She loved seeing her family, eating and cooking good food; she liked to sew and loved to travel; she was a lifelong learner. Sandra was always an advocate for the underdog and less fortunate, outspoken about politicians who did not represent the public properly. Passing on this value to her sons. Mom believed women should have the same rights and opportunities as men.

Sandra was one of three sisters; in adulthood, they traveled together to France, Australia, and New Zealand, and Sandra always admired her sisters and their families.

Sandra was born in Seattle to young parents Bill and Harriet Horton; she lived in North Bend, Oregon, and graduated from high school in Eugene, Oregon. Later she attended the University of Oregon and was a lifelong Duck fan. Mom loved watching sports of all types.

While attending Oregon State University, Sandra met Sam Hutchinson, and they were married. Sandra and Sam were married for 68 years; they raised three boys, Mark, Scott, and Michael. Living in El Paso Texas, then Beaverton, Hillsboro, and finally building a house in Mollalla, Oregon.

Sam and Sandra camped together with the boys, square danced, boated with their sailboats and houseboat, and traveled. Later they took up motorcycling together each year on the Oregon 500, with trips to Alaska and Europe. They belonged to clubs: square dancing, beekeeping, and Moto Guzzi Club.

Sandra graduated from Eugene High School, attended the University of Oregon and Oregon State, studying home economics. Mom worked as a cook after the boys went to school in daycares, and senior living businesses. Later in life, Mom received her associate’s degree in electronics while working at Intel, and retired later, working for Epson.

Sandra was active in her Christian Science Faith Teaching Sunday school and held various positions in the church in Hillsboro, Woodburn, and later Portland. She knew she was going to see God in heaven.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Sam Hutchinson (married 68 years), and sisters Karen Roberts and Barbara Nebon, and children Mark Hutchinson, Scott Hutchinson, and Michael Hutchinson. And her grandchildren Joel Hutchinson, Anne Pepitone, Dyaln Fraiser, Ryan Hutchinson, and Kaye Hutchinson. And great-grandchildren: Sujan Hutchinson, Sonia Hutchinson, and Giona Pepitone.

A celebration of life will be held on September 19th moms birthday. Contact Mark Hutchinson at Hutchisfishin@gmail.com for details.
