Jean Jenson
Jean (Hemphill) Jenson, age 87, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Gresham, OR. Born in Kimberly, ID on Mar 14, 1926 to Sam and Aubie Hemphill. Jean and family later moved to Pendleton, OR where she graduated from Pendleton High School and then on to Portland where she attended Loyola University of Chicago Business College extension program. Jean worked at Western Skyways as an executive assistant before retiring with health issues. Once her health permitted, she decided that 70 (something) was not too old and went to work for JAE in Tualatin, OR. Her health and that of her husband, Leo demanded she retire 10 years later.
In 1950 Jean married her beloved husband Leo Jenson. They lived in Whitefish Mt while Leo worked on the construction of Hungry Horse Dam. They moved and began farming in Gary, SD and later Burley, ID. Jean was the managing Bacteriologist of the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co in Burley ID before moving back to Portland, OR in 1965 where they finally retired.
In addition to beloved husband Leo, Jean was predeceased by her parents Sam and Aubie (Robinson) Hemphill, her sisters Helen Clarke and Betty Harman. Jean is survived by her loving children Lynne McIntyre (Charles), Rick Harvey (Erna) and Marvel Walker (Tom). She is also survived by her grandchildren Chris, Steffen, Ryan, Casey (Katy), Robin, Jessica and Brandon. She had two great grandchildren Grant and Isla along with three nieces Linda Levier, Vickie Harman, and Linda Mutch.
There will be a private family graveside service at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR on July 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM.
