Judy Bailey Chapman
Date Of Birth: 04/08/1930
Date of Death: 03/07/2021
Judy was born April 8th, 1930 to Dr. Tom and Bernice Bailey in Portland.
She attended Holy Child Academy and University of Oregon.
In 1950 Judy married Sim Chapman. They were together until his death in 1998. They enjoyed an active golf life at Portland Golf Club.
Judy and Sim raised 3 sons and a daughter.
Seasonal holidays were her most favorite times. Judy absolutely loved decorating her beautifully kept home for her family and friends.
Mom had a talented singing voice and was an accomplished pianist.
We always had dogs, mainly due to mom’s great love of animals. There were road trips to acquire a St Bernard, Great Dane, Springer Spaniel, and a number of Bassett Hounds. The neighbors weren’t too fond of the large dogs prior to the leash law.
Finally, mom got her miniature poodle when dad died.
About 15 years ago, Judy started having some serious health issues. 7 years ago she went to Maryville for rehab. Mom loved being there in her private room and chose to stay. Eventually she had to be situated in Maryville’s Memory Care. Her years at Maryville gave her comfort and peace. Mom loved being around the Sisters and attending Mass in the chapel.
Judy died peacefully at Maryville as her family surrounded her that day.
We are forever grateful to the Memory Care unit for the love, care, and dignity they showed mom in her final hours.
Judy is pre deceased by her husband Sim, sons Rock and Sim Jr.
Surviving is daughter Beth Semke (Rick), son Tom (Annie), and daughter in law Margaret.
Also, grandchildren Andrea Skinner (Brian), Christopher Semke (Christy), and Stephen Chapman.
Great grandchildren are Alicia, Jordan, Nora, and Joey.
We all agree Judy’s strongest strength was that of resilience and never complained during her serious illnesses. Strongest little lady ever!
Private family service to be held at Mt Calvary.
