Born in Cleveland, Ohio as the first of four children to John and Ruth Bara, Gail passed away unexpectedly in her home on April 13, 2021. Gail’s childhood and early years were spent in Elyria, Ohio where she graduated from Elyria High School in 1968. She then moved to Oregon to attend Lewis and Clark College in Portland, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Medical Technology. She married her college sweetheart, Randy Hurt of Milwaukie, Oregon on August 12, 1972.
Gail started her career as a Medical Technologist in the fall of 1972 at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon. She also worked at Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon for a number of years before retiring in 2003.
Gail was a devout Christian who attended Milwaukie First Baptist Church, Gresham First Baptist Church as well as Southwest Community Church in Indian Wells, California and Cedar Mill Bible Church In Portland, Oregon. Gail was an avid reader and traveler who enjoyed her family and especially her 4 grandchildren. She and her husband Randy enjoyed spending their winters in the Desert Southwest and their summers here in Cedar Mill, Oregon.
Gail is survived by her husband Randy Hurt of Portland, Oregon and children Terry Hurt of Portland and David (Lori) Hurt of Portland. She has 4 grandchildren: Taylor Hurt and Jackson Hurt of Portland and Liliana and Daniel Hurt also of Portland. Gail also has 3 surviving siblings: John (Becky) Bara of Palo Alto, California; Joan (Brian) Brown of Elyria, Ohio and Jane (Jack) Sito of Elyria, Ohio. She has 13 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents John and Ruth Bara of Vermillion, Ohio.
There will be a Celebration of Gail’s Life at Cedar Mill Bible Church (12208 NW Cornell Rd, Portland, OR 97229) on Thursday, April 22nd at 10:00 AM. Due to Covid protocols, please wear a mask as well as be socially distant at Cedar Mill Bible Church.
